New to HDD - Ya think am doing something wrong ???
I have a Pal v9 PS2 (SCPH - 50004) with a Magic V 50k modchip. Its around 4 years old and I've decided to jump in on the HDD bandwagon :D I have managed to get my hands on a brand new Network Adapter, almost spent $90 US on it :wow: (damn these things are getting extinct). Anyways, am thinking of getting either a Seagate or Samsung 160 GB HDD. Have checked out the compatibility chart and have taken a print out of both those brand's 160 gb drives and will try to get one that works fine with the PS2 :D.
I've read a lot on these forums and came to know a lot of stuff but have some doubts about some things :)
I've downloaded God of War 2 DVD9 off the net and will be using WinHiip to transfer the game to my PS2 harddrive. That will be my first game that I'll be transferring to my HDD so there shouldn't be any problems with fragmented space right ? Also, I've managed to download an already patched HDLoader v0.8b DVD ISO and will be using that to play the game.
Now do you guys have any suggestions for me so I can play that game perfectly fine ??? I read somewhere on this forum that you need to enable Date/Time Fix 2, where do I do that ??? Is that an option in the HDloader itself ?? I've never used it before. Just wanna get it right the first time :P
Also, I live in India, and we get PS2 DVD HK silvers over here in the local gray markets here, so will mostly be using HDloader to transfer games to my PS2's hdd (using the PS2's drive). Is there any problem with that ??? I've seen one of my friend copy a game like this, and he said mostly all of them work just fine :)
Also, I read a thread over here about the latest patch of HDloader and downloaded the patch v0.8c as well as the "Clean HD Loader", which was I think in .elf format. I have some experience as to how to make bootable DVD disc that will boot up .elf files (did it perfectly fine with ulaunch :D) but what I don't seem to understand was how do I patch the "Clean HD Loader" .elf ???
When I double click the patch, it said some DLL file was missing or something like that. Then I read the thread and the person who had posted the patch released another patch.exe which didn't require the required (.msi) file. This time, I was able to run the patch in dos command (am using windows xp pro), I selected the appropriate commands, but I am not sure whether its actually patching the .elf file. What do I need to name that .elf file ??? and how do I make sure whether the patch actually PATCHED THE .ELF FILE. The reason I ask is I don't wanna end up with DVD coasters.
Thanx in advance for the help. Will really appreciate it.
PS: Sorry for writing this post so big :P
