Networking help please –
I just got a network adapter and I'm unable to get passed the DNAS check when I try to install it (I keep getting error 402). I don't need to play games online, I just want to connect my PS2 (with internal HDD) and PC so I can transfer games and use myPS2 to play MP3s over my network. Is there a way around this? Are there other ways to accomplish what I'm trying to do? My system is modded with a unknown chip. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
I'm assuming you are using the original setup disc that came with the adapter?
-402 is an authentication error. Your modchip is being detected. You need to boot your console in sleep/stealth mode. You'll need to know what chip you have or experiment to figure out the method. Usually it's holding down the power button when turning on the machine. On mine, I hold down the eject button when powering on, but I think only DMS chips use that method.
On the other hand, if you don't want to play online games then none of this matters. Homebrew apps do not use the "Your Network Settings" file that this setup tool generates, so it is not required for you to get past this for using homebrews.
