Networking Adapter & HD Speed

Why is the networking & HD speed slow? Where is the bottleneck?

Has anyone run a test on the Ethernet media speed, sending data back and forth from memory? Anyone know the HD read/write speed from memory?

The truth is, that the speed is just fine for the homebrew and for watching movies, for example. Don't forget, that everything you're using for free were made from a skilled developers in their spare time, for free. And since the source code is available, anyone could get it and to make it perform better.

What makes you think the HD speed is slow. How are you measuring it? i.e. Are you saying your HD runs slower in your ps2 as opposed to your pc? I can't say that the new 160gb Seagate I have just installed is slow.

I accept the PS2 networking speed is poor, I assumed it was the way the software has been developed.
