Well I've had my PS2 since the first day it came out (As such it is a version 1) and I play it pretty often. It is because of this that I've had to send it in to Sony for repairs twice now, but at least they were free both times. Anyways, I recently used the independence exploit and am now trying to run HDLoader so I can put my games on a hdd. I went out and purchased a 200 gb Seagate drive (http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list&v...num=ST3200822A) after I checked this compatability list. It seemed like it was a perfect drive and I got it on sale for $80 after tax and rebates. To make sure everything was working right before I installed the drive, I booted up HDLoader with nothing attached to the network adapter and it gave me the normal HDLoader has detected no disk present screen (Btw Im using 7c patched version). So I installed the drive, turned on the PS2, and started HDLoader. So now all it does is freeze on the splash screen. I tried both cable select and master jumper settings on the hard drive, both with the same result. I've rebooted a ton of times. The only thing I can think of is something wrong with my network adapter because it obviously detects the drive or it would go to the screen telling me otherwise. Now I've read a few posts on here saying something about some network adapters not working but I can't seem to find a definitive post about it and every search I do brings back like 500 results that are, for the most part, irrelevant. Are there some network adapters that don't work (I got mine about 3 days after the network adapter came out). Do I need a new one, or is there some other fix I don't know about?

    Thanks in advance

Well it is currently set to master and freezing up every time I try to boot it. I take the drive out and it boots to the standard "No hard drive present" screen in HDLoader. What other versions of HDLoader would be good to use?

Sacreligious, you're correct in your assumptions about the network adapter, i've used probably 50 different kinds of hard drives (don't ask...) and there is a definite problem with particular seagate drives & older network adapters (date codes were in the 2's and early 3's if memory serves).

My cheap-o recommendation (if your NA is in good condition), go to walmart/target, buy a new one, open it up, try it out with the seagate drive, if it works, then return your old one in it's place to get your money back.

Other solution, return your seagate drive ($80 after rebates for a 200gb is good, but not great deal, check out slickdeals.net) and find a maxtor drive. In my experience, maxtors are rock solid in compatiability.

    Hope this helped.

You might want to run the DMS HDD Format tool and see if it will run and recognize your drive. If so, you can use the program to format the drive (it formats exactly the same as HDL). Then HDL might pick it up.

Otherwise, try buying/swapping/returning for a new NA as was already suggested.

Well I tried Dung's HDL and it froze on the splash screen too. Tried to use DMS HDD Format and it also froze. I figured something definitely wonky with my NA so I picked up a new one for $12 at Best Buy today. Attached that and no more freezing on splash screen. So yay for that. The bad news is now both DMS and HDL don't recognize a drive being attached. I've tried the jumper in both master and cable select again and it doesn't see the drive. Any other suggestions?
