    I'm using winhiip to format an 80gig seagate drive and want as much space as possible, what partitions can i leave out or shrink to the minimum 128MB and what ones are essential.

    I have seen this posted somewhere else but can't find it anywhere....please help
    V4 PS2 ~ 80GB w/retail HDAdvance, no mod chip and swap magic v3.6

    ~desktop rig~
    AMD sempron 2300+, 512 ddr2700, 20GB boot drive, 200GB storage, ATI Mobility Radeon 9250 128MB, 4MBps net


    ~laptop rig~
    celeron 1.3GHz, 256 pc100, 20GB.

    partitions?? delete them, dont need them. ive never had partitions on my PS2 drives.

    are unnessicary

    In that case you have never looked. At least not properly.
    Everything that you store on your HDD goes into some kind of partition.

    In fact each HDL game installed is a separate partition, and in addition HDL always creates some non-game partitions, though it only uses one of those to keep track of installed games. That's the partition "HDLoader Settings".

    Like t00p said, the partition "__boot" can also be important. That is where mod chips with support for Dev2 booting place the ELFs to be booted. And some other software also makes more extensive use of it (eg: DMS HDD Explorer).
