Hi, ive asked this before, but now im in a position to try it here and now.

Ive got the sony 40gb ps2 hard drive from the dev kit.

I plugged it into to usb port and saw a ntfs partition (the last owner wanted to use it has a hdd/ or formatted it with his pc). Formatted it with WinHiiP.

Plugged it into the ps2 and swapped in a ware$ version (v1.1) of the sony hdd util cd, and used the HDD Format function to (supposedly) format the hdd.

Now, the hdd is not showing in the ps2 browser (i thought official hdds did.), but dms explorer sees it (doesnt see the system partitions tho strangly), and ps2-menu-k did write its backup partition to it.

What am I doing wrong? I want to use this official drive with original (or swapped in) PS2 games. please help!!! Thanks

The HDD will only show in the browser if you have a browser extension installed from the $ony HDD install disc.

It will work with normal (unpatched) games that use the HDD.

If it´s a $ony install disc then a browser extension should have been installed to your PS2 which makes it show up in the browser and lets you copy game saves to the HDD with the browser.
Maybe the warez version is buggy, try a legit one.

Only a Japanese PSBBN disc, and I'm not selling it. I only have the prerelease version which can't be updated over the internet, and 0.20 which can update itself. It's too hard to replace both of those. If you're close enough, I might consider mailing them, but you need a Japanese system to use them for anything more than backing up memory cards to the HDD.
