  1. #1 Question Loading .ISOs from HDLoader containg .elf programs
    powerball Guest
First off, amazing site. I've read through tons of threads and tutorials.

I am trying to load a couple of different applications to my memory card to load hdloader from mc without any discs, also trying to ftp my PS2 to my pc to send files to the hard drive and mc.

I don't have a modded PS2 or any exploits such as AR, SwapMagic, or even PS1 games to load the exploit. I am leary of opening my PS2 or sticking things in the drive to pop it open. I think there might be an easier way. I do have original HDLoader, official hard drive, and 160gb Maxtor.

I was trying to find a way to load an .iso similar to what you do when you create the ps1 swap to load software. I was trying to do so by creating and .iso, then transferring it to my hard drive (using a utility like hdhandiness), and then booting the .iso (from HDLoader screen)to load software to my mc, such as hdloader.elf and others.

I get an error message of failure to read cdvd.irx when I try loading it. I am doing something wrong. It may be that using the hdloader ID won't work with this type of exploit, or that this type of exploit is the completely wrong way of accomplishing what I am trying.

If anyone has some advice, I am looking for a way to boot an .iso containg applications that I can then send to my memory card without any mods other than what I mentioned above. Perhaps some of the many masterful developers knows of way to not only transfer .iso, but .elf files directly to my "official drive" so I can transfer them in the browser from HDD to MC. Thanks in advance for the help?

Sadly, it dosen't work that way. The only way to do this is:

    1. Get the Launch Disk 0.3 and make an ISO out of the BOOT.ELF and the SYSTEM.CNF out of the Archive. The included SYSTEM.CNF has to be modified to run the BOOT.ELF. Then make the ISO with PS2CDGen3 and move it over to your hd.
You'll have to do the same with EXECFTPS.68 and the DMSHDTools. Move those 2 to the HD too.
    2. Start the DMSHDTools from the HD and make a Partition called Extra. Reboot
    3. Start EXECFTPS from HD and log into your MEMCARD. Copy PS2OS and EXECFTPS to the MemCard we'll need it later to reset the HD-Driver for ExecFTPs.
    4. Reboot to the PS2Menu-k Image and start PS2OS from the Memcard (now the HDD-Drivers are resettet). From PS2OS you now can start EXECFTPS from the Memcard and use your PC to mount the Extra-Partition (Raw Command: "SITE MNT /pfs/0 hdd:+Extra").
    5. Copy all the apps you want to the hd
    6. IMPORTANT! Unmount the HD via FTP Raw Command "SITE UMNT /pfs/0"
    7. Reboot to the PS2Menu-K Image and execute whatever ELF from the Extra-Partition

This Guide was tested jesterday on a unmodded V9 PS2 without Swap or whatever!

P.S. I havent found a way to load more than one ELF from HD because of this nasty HD-Lockup, when starting PS2Menu-K Iso

That sounds like something I could do. Thanks for the help, it will take me a while to look up on the procedures on the site, but I bet I could get all the info I need here. Thanks for the help, I'll try it tonight!

    1. Get the Launch Disk 0.3 (I've never come across launch disk 0.3, where would I find it?)

and make an ISO out of the BOOT.ELF and the SYSTEM.CNF out of the Archive. The included SYSTEM.CNF has to be modified (How do I modify it?) to run the BOOT.ELF.

Then make the ISO with PS2CDGen3 and move it over to your hd.

You'll have to do the same with EXECFTPS.68 and the DMSHDTools. Move those 2 to the HD too. (Should I just transfer over 3 differnt isos to my hard drive at once, then use them in three steps?)

Thanks, this may take me a while.

Just open the SYSTEM.CNF in your favourite Editor and change the first line to: BOOT2 = cdrom0:\BOOT.ELF;1

Exactly, you'll need all three images seperately.

No problem... Today I just bought Revolt PSX for 5? and have the Exploit plus the popular ELFs on HD running without using any CD-Rs or swapping or similar!

What I did was pretty simple. Burn the exploit on a cd, swap it with action replay 2 and.. wait that's it. I swapped it by taking the cover of my ps2 off while it was running, which wasn't a big deal because I've opened it many times to clean the laser.

I used this way out of two Problems:

    1. I have no stamped CD that allowed swapping and now I used the spared 20 bucks for another memcard
    2. I had no more CD-Rs and I wasn't in the mood to go and get some

Perhaps It is not the best way, but you don't even have to touch a single screw or piece on the PS2 and keep the condition of your console.
