ok for a while i've been able to play games off my hdd with no problem. but recently whenever i boot free hdloader, it just stays at the free hdloader screen for a long time. also, i can see the light from the hdd is on while it is frozen at the hdloader screen.

please help me because i'm not sure if its the ps2 or the hdd. thanks!

is your light on as in flashing on/off or just staying on solid?

hdd most likely. it is trying to access but cant. you should maybe check your jumper settings and switch to cable select.

are you playing it from your hdd? if not then there is a chance it is fried. it might also be because you havent setup your network adapter with that disc that came with it.

I know this sounds dumb,... but I had the same problem where the HDLoader wouldn't boot (using the exploit & HDLoader from the MC). It would just hang on the exploit screen where it's black and shows a bunch of text (it might have been the second exploit screen that usually flashes really quick with the green square or outline).

Anyway, after messing around with a bunch of stuff, I found the problem was that I didn't have a controller plugged into the PS2. Go figure. I tried it again with and without a controller just to confirm, and sure as sh*t - that's what it was.

I don't think this is your problem, but I thought I would just mention it...

your method is through an exploit though modicullus right? the old one that goes through ps2menu. his is it loads but it wont get pass the splash screen on hdloader. leads me to believe its his hdd being searched for partitions. most likely jumpers but if not try a diff network adapter.

yeah,... mine is the one that uses ps2menu. I didn't think it was the cause of his problem, but like I mentioned above, I just thought I would throw it out...

    Cheers
