My Maxtor Hard Drive Wont Work Any More

PLEASE HELP IM A POOR GUY WHO WASTED 170$ ON A MAXTOR HARDRIVE I HAD ABOUT 10 GAMES ON IT. AND WHEN I WAS PLAYING LESIURE SUIT LARRY FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS THAN IT FROZE AND I RESET MY PS2 AND IT WONT READ THE HARD DRIVE ALOSO IS MAKES LOUD WIRED NOISES PLEASE HELP ASAP

You spent your entire welfare check on a hard drive?? I would have spent it on food, but what do I know? Anyway, your hard drive is probably shot. If your hard drive is pretty new it may still be under warrenty. Check the documentation that came with the drive or maybe you can take it back to the store that you bought it from. You may want to try putting the hard drive in your PC and fdisk/format it with the disk that came with the drive and then put it back in the ps2 and see if it recognizes it then. Unfortunatly I don't think this will work, but it might be worth a try.

U can try using powermax, download it from the Maxtor official site, try low level format it first, then format using winhiip.
Other way u can use hddregenerator

Try to go to store and change it to anyting else from maxtor... Ive seen lots of maxtor drive diying for nowhere reason and I dont trust them anymore.... I know they do fit with the network adaptor but......CRAP !

...anyway.. buy nice and not diying for nothing seagate HDD .... or even western digital.... but matrox have made some crap this year... or im unluky.... (4 hdd died in 6 weeks)

I am going to tell you one thing, before thinking about enterteiment think about your life, don't waste your money use it on something productive (bills, food etc)

But I'll try to help you. First if you have a modded console you can get the DMS HDD Explorer (CD Version) and reformat the HDD and then try again. If you don't have a modded console take out the HDD put it on your computer and just re-format and try again, if nothing works then your Maxtor HDD is dead. =/

Go to maxtor.com and type in the serial number on the support page. It will tell you if there is still warranty on it. They will exchange it for you. I've done it lots of times, with all brands of drives. Not a big deal. If its out of warranty, then try all of the suggestions above.
