    wanting to know if ust switching a HDD to master or slave will allow multiple HDDs in a Ps2.... plan on modding case to hold three HDDs......

    plan on using a rotary switch to change from drive to drive (while its off of course) then power up with new drive... I want 2 permenantly installed drives, and one removable drive bay....

    going to buy a junk ps2 for the case... Cut a section out of the top... so the bottom of my good unit will fit in it and put the drives in the bottom of the crap case....

    |==============| 2 top halves and
    |==============|
    |_______________| 1 bottom

    plus to fix the covered up USB and FireWire ports I plan on putting a hub for each one.... so the controller ports on the crap case will be replaced with the 4 usb/4 ilink ports...

    But i need to know if the HDDs can be simply switched using master and slave settings?

    shouldn't you just be able to put them all on cable select?

    yeah.. either way will work.

    well, in theory.

    well.. actaully not in theory.. i think the ps2 only supports one hard drive on a low level. but by all means try it. i'd be very interested in the results. if you got this to work, you would be the first one to do it.

    This has been done on xbox, which also only allows 2 ide devices on the ide cable, but, you had too select the hdd from bootup. So check out xbox-scene in the tutorial sections and bladezero haveing 3 hdds means for example;

    1. offical HDD for gamesaves/downloads/maps
    2. for use on HDLoader
    3. for use with media players/apps/menu

    using slave and master will do nothing, HDloader only supports one HD , so that wont work... see if u can get some sort of IDE switch (if they even make those) or if nthey dont, then try and make one...im intrested in doing this mod also but itd rather just buy a 300 gb
    NEW , v4 mobo , 400-C laser , Matrix infinity chip ,
    modded with 2 windows and painted white.
    ps2 , V4 , unmodded. (SOLD )
    ps2 v7 with Messiah 2 chip...(Died )

    currently using , infinity manager ,hdd utility tools so i can save games to HD via the brower ,HDloader ,
    ps2menu-k w/ 160GB HD, and networked to PC for game transfers , and media player. damn i love my set up , thanks for the install THINKDIFF <done bussiness with him twice so far and the Mod installs are perfect. (highly recommend if your in NY)

    Projects:
    1.modded memory card with big ass blue LED: done
    (check forum for pics)
    2.just finished the door bell mod , can reset my ps2 from 100ft away (wireless)... just makes me happy!

    looking to start another project, holla at me if u got any ideas..

    just make 3 switches for all 3 HD for the power.so u can tell which HD to power up. cuz i dont think u can make a IDE switch. if u want to use HD 1, turn the switch on for the power. so the power is just turning on that one hd. same thing for HD 2 or HD 3. switch it on , then boot up the PS2. then the power will go only to the switched on HD.

    well the idea behind the master slave switch is that the PS2 only supports a master drive.... so wouldn't the slave just not show up as a device.... then just turn switch and viola....

    and one would be permanently installed and one would be in a front lading swap bay.... store moveis music games.... you name is I'll store it....

    don't worry I pplan on shrinking games like a madman.

    why buy a 300GB when I can buy 2 160GB drives for less.. for that matter 2 200GB drives are cheaper.... take that! POW! BLAM!

    thought about using a Romtec Trios IDE Drive selector (supports 3 drives, data safe switching (incase power is stil on), and power switching as well)...for about $50... but I can't find them anywhere any more... well eBay for about $80... I think I can figure out a cheaper way for less than that...

    first thing is first.... looking up my supplies....
    120GB Maxtor 7200RPM OEM drive = $78
    second non-working PS2 = $ 10 (not planning on paying more, also for power supply)
    FireWire hub = $25 (for the old games.. TimeSplitters 1 and 2, GT3....)
    USB Powered 4 port Hub = $10 (KB, mouse, Headset, thumbDrive....)
    FlipTop Lid = $25
    Removable HD Bay and tray = $20 (with Lock)
    Mini Blower... for cooling = FREEBIE (snagged mine from a old power supply)
    Misc. Hardware = $20

    about $200 bucks....

    This is gonna take a while.... not like my wife will allow me to throw down that kind of money all at once..... First the crapped out PS2
