Multidisk backups... –
hi...does anyone know how a multidisk game would work when running off of the hdd. i dont know if there are any such games...but just wondering how you would switch to the second disk...
Using currently available 'loaders' you just can't do that.

Hopefully most multidisk PS2 games will work similar to most multidisk PS1 games, in that they save at end of disk 1, and allow that save to be loaded when booting disk 2. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for all games on the PS1 (eg: Chrono Cross), and there's no guarantee it will be true for all PS2 games either.
I only have one multidisk game for PS2 myself (Star Ocean 3), and haven't reached the switchover point yet, but I have hopes it will use the normal method, allowing the last save from disk 1 to be loaded when starting disk 2. That was the most common method used by Squaresoft for earlier (PS1) games.

I'll be scared if a new multidisc game for ps2 EVER actually gets made (laugh)
As for "Star Ocean 3", I have "installed" both discs or rather ISOs with HDL_Dump (using LordBogami´s GUI 1.1), but when I try to run "Disc 2" I just get a black screen. o_O?

Multidisc means that it's on multiple discs. SO3 is on 2 DVDs. It's working fine. The game tells you when you're supposed to replace discs and gives you option to save progress so far. After save just reset PS2 and "run" disc 2 from HDLoader, load and play on....
Game works fine for me. I haven't gotten to the second disk yet, but I did load it and it booted. Asked to load game, new game, etc. Loaded my save and it said to insert disk 1. So it works fine in my experience. I installed from my original disks using HDL_Dump. Any thoughts of what happened?
