Moving savegames from MC to HDD (and reverse)
I'm new to ps2-scene, so hi everybody. I must first apologize for my poor english, I'm Spanish.
I've been wondering if games could be patched by HDadvance when installing in order to use the HDD instead of the MC to save/load games, and I've found it can be difficult, as it is not the same "patching" that just changing the DVD access to HDD access. I've done a search in ps2-scene's and I've found that it can't be done.
But ... what about if HDavance releases a new version which:
- Creates (and uses) a 128 MB (say) partition in the HDD (*)
- Adds an extra HDadvance menu entry to manage the memory card, i.e.
allows copying data from the MC to the HDD particion, and viceversa.
That way games don't need to be patched, and people can use their HDD to store old savegames, or data of games they are not currently playing, and so. It's not using the HDD directly to save/load games, but is enough to save a lot of space in the MC.
I know that you can move the savegames to the pc using other tools, but I believe it would be a nice feature to a future version of HDAdvance :)
Thanks a lot for reading :)
(*) Can be a 128MB partition with the same format than a standard installed game so that it does not break backwards compatibility, but that "game" wouldn't be seen in the game list.
