Minimum requirements to run off HDD
Sorry if this is a newbish question, I haven't really done any reading in the PS2 scene in quite awhile.
I have a V7, modded with a DMS3 (not the plus). The laser's been having issues lately, slowly booting less and less. I've tweaked it as well as I can, and it boots most backups now, and plays originals with the occassional bits of stuttering. Backups usually freeze up when accessing the disc a few minutes into playing though.
I was able to get a 77001 for CDN$95 (onsale for $100 and the wife got a 15% discount), and was planning on modding it with a CC2.0, but I'm wondering if it's not a better idea to buy a network adapter and try running everything off the HDD.
Right now I have a 200GB HDD full of iso and img files of games, and figure it might as well sit in the PS2 instead of my computer.
With the DMS3, is it possible to run games off of the HDD? If so, I assume the only thing I'd need to buy is a network adaptor? If not, what sort of chip would I need?
