messiah 2 acting very strange

ok ive googled ive been to several different forums could not find an answer.

I downloaded hd advance v1.0 burned it to a cd following a guide i read. The disc (hd advance) booted right up on my v7 messiah 2 v 1.31. Next i installed the official sony hdd 40gb everything seems fine i can access the hdd from browser. But when i insert the hd advance disc it will not boot. backups will not boot, and originals will not boot with the chip on.

If i disable the chip originals will boot with hdd drive instaled.

So basicly without the official hdd instaled the ps2 behaves normaly will boot anything i throw in it including the copy of hd advance i downloaded.

But when hdd is instaled i can only play originals with the messiah chip in stealth mode.

I hope someone can help me.

I dont think the messiah chips are HDD compatable.

You may want to verify the features.

thanks for the quick reply. ive been googling and reading forums for about 7 hours and never read that it wouldnt work with m2. i did read that it wouldnt work with magic 2 or something. oh well i guess i just wasted a lot of time for nothing.

I have a Messiah 2 Pro and it works great with my Seagate HDD. Been using it for a few months now. I'm pretty sure that you aren't able to use the PS2 to back up games though if you have the Messiah 2 chip. That is, you can't back up burnt games. For me I use HDL on my memory card to boot. I need to turn the chip off (hold power button for a few seconds) to boot up PS1 games (Boot up disc is Xenogears, great game). I use my PC to get games onto my HDD. I put hook up my HDD to the slave cable of my PC and transfer that way. Hope this helps, post if you have problems and such.

It may also depend on what version chip you are using, I think it went v1.31, v1.33, v1.33b, then V2.

its 1.31 i thanks for the sugestions guys. the chip i have is a messiah2 v 1.31. so import tuner are you telling me that the messiah 2 is incompatible with hd loader or that it wont allow me to transfer my burnt games through my ps2?

thanks for the help guys i think for now ill just stick with my chip for now. im always low on money and i really dont mind getting up to switch games.

if i was to buy a hdd would i be able to boot the copy of hd advance?
import tuner did you mean that you couldnt rip your backups to the hdd with the ps2?

the messiah 2 isn't compatible with the official hdd must get an aftermarket hdd

Just a thought Loy, what if the official utilities are removed from it and its formatted clean? Would that fix his issue? I'm thinking if it doesn't have the browser update software on there it would work, since that is essentially what most people use, an HDD without the official software on it.
