Media player running from HD can't find movies on disc
Media player running from HD can't find movies on disc –
I've searched the forums but I can't find an answer to my question. I'm running HDLoader off a memory card using the exploit on my unmodded (well, non-functioning mod, put into sleep mode) PS2. I've installed the HDD version of PS2Reality Media Player 1.50 (found here in these forums) and it loads up just fine from HDLoader. However, when I browse my movie discs, the browser says there's nothing there. If I swap in a pressed PS2 or PS1 disc, it sees all those directories just fine, but it can never find movies on my burned CD-Rs.
Awhile ago I also tried running PS2Reality Media Player Pro (the newest version) from HDLoader, but I had the same problems. I thought something must be wrong with that version because I have successfully used 1.50 in the past to play movies when my modchip was working. Now even 1.50 won't work for me.
Does this have something to do with the fact that my PS2 is unmodded? Will it not read movies off burned discs anymore? Please help. Thanks!
you can't load the program from HDLoader cause HDLoader does something to redirect disc access... you shoulld instead run the media player straight from your boot loader program. a boot loader like launchelf can load other elf's off the HDD, so you don't need to waste too much MC space with media players.
Well, I've tried loading ps2media.elf from the standard version of 1.50 using my Action Replay Max EVO disc, and it loads up, but it has the same problem of not finding movies on CD-Rs. Can anybody point me to a version of the ELF that will definitely work with LaunchELF or another boot loader?

I've also tried running ps2media.elf for both the 1.50 version and the Pro version (using my AR Max EVO) and neither would find movies on CD-R. The only time I've been able to play a movie is when I played the intro.avi off the AR Max EVO disc, which is pressed and not a CD-R.
I don't know if that extra bit of info helps any, but I thought I'd just throw that out there.
To make a long story short, NO program can read data from a standard CD-R or DVD-R disc using normal CDROM or DVDROM format on an unmodded PS2. (I'm ignoring 'swap' methods as they wear out your hardware.)

Thank you sir, this is exactly the kind of info I was looking for!
