    What's the meaning of the m0 m1 m2, u0 u1 u2 in the hdloader 0.8b boot screen?
    I mean...what that options do in fact?

    Sorry for the stupid question but I can't find the answer by using the search button.

    P.S.: Sorry also for my poor english.

    click here
    from the dma.ini:
    This is the default button layout for HDLoader's DMA-selector.

    m0=up
    m1=triangle
    m2=left
    u0=right
    u1=square
    u2=circle
    u3=down

    Valid buttons are:
    ------------------
    up, down, left, right
    triangle, cross, square, circle
    l1, l2, l3, r1, r2, r3
    start, select
    none for no button allocated for that mode
    Don''t know exactly how to explain it but it changes the speed of reading/writing files from hard disc

    But is there a compatibility list over games that require such modes?

    Oh, well!!
    I'm not the only one how don't know what they do exactly.
    Now I feel myself lesser stupid!!

    So, you say it change only the reading speed. Nothing to do with force PAL or something like this?

    M0 = Compatibility mode, for old 486/Pentium 1 PCs. Slowest, Programmed I/O. Means the CPU has to poll the HDD every time it wants data.
    M1 and M2 are faster versions of that.

    U0-U3 are ULTRA DMA modes which means the network adapter chip will use a "Direct Memory Access" (DMA) hadware device to "pump" the data transfer making it faster. The slowest DMA mode transfers about 33megabit per second. Fastest transfers 133megabit ber second.

    I didn't know that ps2 works exactly like a PC with the IDE interface.
    Now all that options are completely clear to me. It was simple the Pio and UltraDMA modes...

    Thank's!!

    I would say just use the regular .8 version of HDloader. Then if you want to load the "slow" HD loader (thats what I call it) to your HD as an elf file that can be accessed only when needed.

    Out of like 165 games that I have only 2 games need the "slow" HD loader. Fast and Furious and Soul Calibur 3 (I think)
    unmodded v10 PS2 NTSC
    120 GB Maxtor Hardrive
    HDL exploit (Key Launcher)
    PS1 game: Twisted Metal 3
    PS2 remote ( w/ reset button )
