    Hi

I was wondering if there is a way to go exit to hdloader screen during or after gameplay. Like on a pc, After you exit a game, You're back on the desktop.

Its a pain to go restart the system if you want to play a different game (kinda defeats half the purpose of not having to reload cds to play different games) since you still have a waiting period in between each game.

is something like this out of reach, or is it possible ?

this falls back on Sony .....

Sega Dreamcast had a feature where if you held down I believe (select, start, and the triggers), it would reboot the system ... (same as hitting reset) ....

Sony should have it programmed into the PS2 (Or make it industry standard for every PS2 Game released to do this) ... where if you simultaniously hit select,start,L1,L2,R1,R2 that it would reboot the system ..... Not a hard thing to do, but I guess just they simply didnt think of it ...... Another Quality that Sega provided.....

    guys
have you noticed that when you hit the reset button the system turns off when using games on hdloader?
I think hdloader had a irx built in for that (i cant remember the name), which tells the ps2 to shutdown when the off button is pressed (some homebrews dont program it in, so you end up holding the off button for 8 seconds), couldnt the call to shutdown in hdloader.elf be hacked or the irx itself so when you hit the off button it goes to the browser, or a certain button combo does that.
PS2OS lets you get back to the browser...

thats a good thought theskillster. hacking it wouldnt be an option, nor hex editing it. but since that file should be in open source or w/e at ps2dev, you could check it out and see what could be done.

An example would be when the off button is pressed, the poweroff module instead tells the ps2 to boot the disc in cdvd, or boot a specific elf file in a specific partition.

The poweroff however is important because it allows the hdd to spin down safely.
