I was wondering if anyone knew how to load the ps2 game to your harddrive if you download it from the internet. I know you have to connect the harddrive to your computer and i was wondering what the program was called and what steps i have to do to make this work. thanks
Unless you have an actual retail copy of the game in your posession, this is illegal and is not allowed here. If you do have a retail copy you can either make an iso image of it on your comp or you can backup with hdloader.... this is a warning

Do I need to set the PS2 HD to slave even if I use HDL Dump, where the HD remains in the PS2?
If so, how does the HD work in the PS2 if the connections are removed?

ok you have an image in your PC right? (btw i dont support d/ling images but not my place to say if you can or cant) now you take your ps2 hdd out. next to the IDE cable pins there should be another set of pins usually 2x4. there is a "cap" on one of the set of pins, that is the jumper. (depending on model but most are like this) you remove that cap and it is now set to slave. then with your pc turned off, you connect your ps2 hdd to the expansion plug on your IDE cable (there should be 2, one is at the end connected to your current hdd, the other is just open). once you connect it turn on your pc and then go to hdl_dump (gui is easier). select hdd1: as your device and it will list your hdd. assuming you already formatted the ps2 hdd with hdloader or something it will list your games on there. now go to PC menu and choose to put image on ps2. shouldnt matter of its dvd or cd. you can alternatively use hdl_dumb which is almost the same thing anyways.
