Linux on a PStwo –
Has anyone who's wired in an IDE cable/used HDconnect tried running the PS2 Linux package on a PStwo? I'm assuming it should work fine, but I'm worried it too may have the reformatting problem?
Also, is it possible if I'm using a DMS4 and a larger than standard HDD to boot the Linux disk1 from HDD?
I doubt linux wil run. all official software that suports HD will not run on the psTwo. I KNOW ff onlline will not work, even with extender/automan hack. i suspect linux is same way. worth a shot, tho...
Well, I've asked this on the Xtender forum, but had no answer. And it's probably best not to ask on the official PS2Linux forum...
Now, if I was to install Linux using a PS2, would it be possible to patch it somehow and then move that HDD over to the PStwo? It seems that the PStwo communicates with the HDD (that it shouldn't have, technically) slightly differently than a PS2->HDD. Therefore, it must be possible to patch Linux to work with the HDD the same way that ToxicOS can work with PStwoHDD.
I personally can't do this. However 2 of my mates are linux boffins of the highest degree. So if it is just a matter of patching Linux, I'm sure they'd be happy to contribute. We'd just need any technical info on the differences between PS2/two HDcomms, and fixing this reformatting problem.
EDIT> Have one of them well interested. Gives him an excuse to get another box on the go..
