Just an idea...
How about this... :chinscrat
Since there so many questions based on the HDD mostly from new members and the Search tool is not used very often (talking based on the posts I've read so far) wouldn't be a good idea to create a new Sticky which will be like a FAQ for the HDD?
That way any member who has (a) question/s can search there and if an answer isn't there wet he/she can post his/her question and wait for an answer from the more experienced members of the forum.
It's a nice way to stop all the repeated new threads.
Thanks for your time... :)

I dunno, there are waay to many stickies right now. So new members will just ignore it.
-
It's a good idea, but the stickies need to be trimmed. How bout one thread with all apps instead of seperate threads for each.
-
there are alot of stickies right now, but we're trying to limit the amount of questions being asked that are already answered... we are in the process of doing alot of tutorials that will end up in the tutorial section of the site once we get them all together... so please everyone, read the stickies and always SEARCH first

It's a very good idea to create one sticky with all the apps. :)
This way the HDD section will be more organised like the Homebrew one...

Hi!
I'm new on this forum (and French, sorry for my english), and also new to HD Loader. Here is my opinion about the stickies : it's true that there are lots of stickies, and as you said, it would be a great idea to put all the apps in one sticky.
What would also be great, is for each app, just 1 or 2 sentences to explain what the app is for. Because as I arrived, I took a look on the stickies, there were just the links to download the app, but nothing to say what the app does... So I had to try each app by myself, and I'm not sure I've understood everything, but I think it will be okay ;-) But just a quick explanation would save a lot of time!
A FAQ would also be a very good idea, because there are lots of threads on this forum, and even with the search button, you can surely find a lot of things, but often not the simplest thing... For example : when a newbie (like me lol) comes on this forum, he sees a lot of discussions about ELF, CNF, etc., but he can't find a short tutorial to learn HD Loader basics.
Well, I hope that what I've just written is comprehensible enough... It's hard to explain something in a foreign language, sorry...

When writing a FAQ, it's hard to know how basic you need to be. If I'd write a FAQ before I read your post, Fopat. I wouldn't even have explainations for elf and cnf, since it's so basic. Some people might even need to be told that PS2 is short for Playstation 2.
When you don't know where to start, most people get discuraged. How about a thread where users can ask questions which'll then be put at the first post as an FAQ.
-
Why not. Or maybe we could start writing a FAQ by finding the questions that have been asked the most, and answer them shortly.
Also, as a newbie, I may help to tell you which are the basics that I think have to be explained...
If I wrote a FAQ, I would answer the following questions :
- what is HD loader / HD advance ? (this question has been asked a lot of times)
- what do I need for HDL/HDA ?
- how does it work ?
- which apps do I need ?
- do all games work ? ( -> compatibility list)
- what are ELF / CNF ?
- how do I install HDL/HDA on a memory card ?
- etc.
I've read a lot of threads on this forum these last days, and these questions come very very often. Except for ELF and CNF, that's a question for me ;-)
Anyway, I'm gonna create a thread to ask what i want to know. But if you want to write a FAQ, I think you should answer the questions I've written before.
