After waiting for a bit, I finally received my copy of HDLoader from divineo and I've got a few questions I hope some of you can help me with.
1. I hear that HDLoader has a timestamp problem with certain savefiles and I need to patch it. I was wondering if anyone could help me with how to go about doing so.
2. I've read the threads about the MC exploit but is that still necessary since I've got a legit copy of HDLoader in order to patch it?
3. I saw some of the threads regarding the various patches which help alleviate the problems but I'm still not seeing how I can apply those to the disc.
Sorry to sound so clueless but I'm an old fart who doesn't really dabble much in messing with modding type stuff. But after having my 2nd PS2 die on me, I'm hoping this'll keep my current PS2 alive a bit longer. Thank you all for any help that you can provide.

1. you can only really patch the elf file, you can't patch the disk
2. see #1
3. see #1
what you could do is use HDL (legit) to get things set up, like the exploit or such. From then on, you can just run the exploit instead of your disc, but that would be a waste of $30 wouldn't it? Hope that helps

I see, I guess I'll have to go through the patcher with the elf file then. I do have a question about how to get it onto the memory card though. I have an unmodded V5 PS2 although I do have a Codebreaker which allows me to transfer .cbs files onto the memory card. Do you know of anyway to transfer the exploit + HDL onto the memory card using this method? Thanks for any help.

You will have to use the mc exploit, swap method, or modchip to boot a patched version of the hdloader elf. You have to actually change the hdloader program(.elf file), so you cannot just change a setting on the ps2 or anything. As far as changing the elf to do these things, you can use the nice SEARCH feature we have here on our forum to find these answers. There are even some nice GUI's to make it easier for you. Hope this answers your question,
