he thinks seagate barracuda might not work with his old net-ad, I thought 120gb=120gb straight, he'd just need to swap with someone for another 120gb WD, or Maxtor, just another manufacturor, if theres a barracuda issue with old network adaptors, that or trade that, I might even have an extra new style net-ad, that absolutely positively works with my own 120gb seagate.

I heard anything > 120 GB didn't work so I got a 120 Matxor, though at the time I bought it there was a 160 GB HD on sale for 20 bucks cheaper. Oh well.

Actually you can use drives over 120 GB the only problem is you can only use up to 137GB (or 127GB depending on the brand). So if you get a 160GB or larger, it'll work, but you'll be buying extra space that you won't be able to use.

As for the potential Seagate problem, I actually had the 120GB Seagate Barracuda, 7200 rpm/8MB cache. Weird thing is, it wouldn't work (I have the ethernet/modem combo, although when I bought it, there was a sticker over the modem port saying not to use it, weird). So I returned it, but it was such a good deal ($60 at Best Buy after rebates) I bought another one and was determined to make it work. The second time around it worked without a problem so I have no idea what the issue was first time around.

The ethernet only NA's I believe were from the Linux kit. I don't know if the actually sold just the ethernet NA's in the states or else where other than Japan. They don't use dialup over there. Yes on some hdd's I've experience that one NA would work while the other wouldn't with the same drive.
