Not sure if this is the right place to post this so im sorry if it isnt.
Anyways now to my question, im running my ps2 with memcard hack on an old 20gig seagate hdd, but recently certain games the movies are becoming choppy and jumpy (kinda like playing on a old worn out laser), unfortunatly i dont have another hdd to test with at the min and i was wondering if anyone else has encountered anything like this or if they have any thoughts as to what the problem maybe.
cheers for any help.
DV.
edit: forgot to mention it's only cg movies that are jumpy, ingame movies and cutscenes seem to play fine.

It's not really. The best place would be the subforum entitled "IDE HDD Game Compatability Discussion", but since your'e here now we might as well deal with it. Since your question is not specific to a single game, but relates to a whole bunch of them, it's not entirely off-topic.

I see different problem cases here, depending on some missing info.
If the games you refer too are such that previously showed the movies perfectly, and now fail to do so though still running as previously installed, then the problem is definitely with your HDD hardware. The obvious cure (and the only reliable one) for such problems is simply to get a new HDD.
If the games you refer to show this behaviour from the first time you try them, and consistently behave the same way, then they probably use movie streaming methods that HDLoader is only partially compatible with. That is one of the weakest spots of the program, causing some games to fail completely.
For this there is no universal cure yet, though some people have succeeded in patching a few games to cure them. Specifics for this differs for each game, so you need to seek for them in the other subforum I mentioned.

Thanks for the quick replys.
I had a feeling this wasnt the right forum area but was unsure as the problem does belong to a group of games rather then a select few.
As you mentioned dlanor the games did used to run perfect and now are having problems, armored core nexus evolution disc just plain dies on movies for me, so im guessing it is my hdd failing.
Just seems odd as some games still run fine, ah well getting a new hdd tomorrow guess i can just bin the old one it served its purpose. Thanks again for the reply guys.
