I wasn't thinking of using SATA, I just wasn't sure if I could only use the ATA100 for its slower speed. So, I take from your response that I could use either ATA100 or ATA133.

The PS2 network adapter works with IDE 66 MB/s, so you can not use SCSI or SATA interrfaces with it. The newer IDE hard drives are 100 and 133 MB/s. Most newer IDE hard drives work fine with the PS2 (see compatibility charts), but you will not be able to take advantage of their higher transfer rates. I'm not sure how well a much older hard drive with IDE 33MB/s works with the PS2.
