installing hdd into pc

hi ive been reading about the MC exploit with HDLoader for the last couple days and decided to try it out. now i figured id run into problems but not one like this, i install my hdd(slave mode only mode that works) into pc and boot up, but it locks up before it loads windows and says cable damaged. i dont know what cable is damaged but after i take out the hdd my pc works fine. is there a certain way to install a hdd to use winhiip cause i cant get it to workk yet?? any help is appreciated

i have a V1 ps2 no modchip with sony 40gb hdd and maxtor 60gb hdd

It is possible that your computer uses the 'Cable Select' method of addressing its IDE drives. If that is the case you'll need to strap the PS2 HDD to the 'CS' setting, rather than 'Master', when inserting it into the PC.
