HDL only seems to let me install retail copies of ps2 games, but I have some backups and modded games that I want to install as well.

I tried using a program to transfer ISOs through the ethernet cable, but it wouldn't work.

Is there any other way to do this?

Those are the only ways to install games to a IDE HDD.

    1- HDL interface
    2- Over the network
    3- Winhiip

So if you cant use any of them, then you might try getting a USB to IDE cable or enclosure to connect to your PC or give some info on what you did to try network installing.

Those are your only options to install backups to the IDE HDD.

Or you could try OPL and check out its network gameing option, it might work better for you than installing over the network.

Then you didn't do it right, and should try again until you do get it right.
Without persistence you won't get much of anything done...

If I need to install games with the PC, I use HDL Dumb instead of Winhiip.
I don't understand how people keep using such a dangerous piece of software. And recommending it for people who don't have much knowledge about computers.

Back on the good days of HDL (2005/2006) I would reinstall windows for people at least once in a month because the person formated the PC HDD with Winhiip.

I don't know if that issue was fixed but hell that was a dangerous piece of software ...

Any software capable of formatting is dangerous to those who dont use common sense and read about its capabilities or learn how to use it, before using it.

This is true with ANY tool, as tools need to be used properly for them to work as expected. A simple screwdriver is just as "dangerous" if the user doesnt use it properly and strips the screw with it, but this doesnt make a screwdriver 'dangerous'.

And recommending it for people who don't have much knowledge about computers.
People who dont have much knowledge of comuters isnt going to do much better with any other software either......

Since HDL Dumb/Dump isn't capable of formatting, I find it easier to let people use. The worst that might happen is the fool delete his/her games and need to re-install...

Well either way, they have to first format the HDD before they can even use it, so if they are not smart enough to use a PC correctly, then it is dangerous for them to use anything that could format their HDD.

I got nothing against HDL Dump, as its a great way to install over a network and not need to remove the HDD, but to say Winhiip is a 'dangerous' program would imply you dont know how to use it either. It has its own help built-in and i usuall link a guide i wrote a while back, so anyone can use winhiip safely and easily.

Winhiip is 10 X faster to install and has a lot of management tools, but of course not knowing how to use it will be scary to anyone who is afraid of screwing up.

I recommend Winhiip to anyone who has the ability to connect their HDD to a PC and recommend HDL Dump to those who only install a game or 2 here and there. I usually install many games when i decide to install, so Winhiip is my favorite method and another reason i recommend it all the time.
