Honestly, if we did it, it wouldn't be by ripping it, but by using frreely available and developed libraries, and creating a drop in replacement for hdloaders ATAD that goes to USB drive instead.

But all joking aside, the fact that the new ports are usb 2.0 means that a usb hard drive is a much more viable storage option for homebrew stuff than before. and the fact that it is possible to fool the sensor means that yo ucan now get homebrew code running on the pstwo without messing up your laser even though the independence exploit is closed.

Anyway, now it's actaulyl practical to use USB HDD since the usb ports ahve been upgraded.

Considering the USB 2.0 ports would use a USB EHCI controller and not the standard controller found in the original PS2, they'd be breaking compatibility with all of the games that have used USB previously, plus the EHCI controller would be more expensive to impliment, and the PSTwo is obviously the 'end of life' model to make way for the PSP and PS3.

Thus, I say that USB 2.0 on the PSTwo is bunk (UNLESS they added it to link with the PSP and added some rom0: librarys for EHCI that defaultly override usbd.irx)
