Import games in the hdloader
Import games in the hdloader –
Hi, this is my first time here, and after asking around on afterdawn, I came up with nothing. I read a small guide on how to load imports and back-ups on Hdloader, but it was very vague and my attempts were unsucessful. Can someone please explain how to in detail?
If you have a modchip that can do it, you can even run NTSC games on a PAL system or vice versa. And yeah HDLoader will let you play import games. Install via WInHiip is your best bet. I'm sure you can install them via HDLoader anyway.
I use swap magic currently. I'm looking into a chip at the moment, but when I put in a import (official) or back up game in and try to install it says not a valid ps2 disc. How can I bypass this without a mod in order to put them on my HD?
okay, here's the trick...(don't which ps2 version you have though and if you are booting form the memory card or HDadvance disc...)
first boot HDloader, then press eject, insert a dvd ps2 game (as "large" as you can...for exempple Devil may cry 1-2) from your region (assuming the import you wanna backup is a dvd...use a cd game instead)...listen carfully to the ps2 dvd player and wait until for it to slow down...(meaning it has stoped ) then use you magic swap and proceed to backup you game ^^
(it might work better, if you insert you ps2 games prior to boot HDloader...assuming you use the "psx exploit method")
hope it'll help ^^
Edit>yeah, darkpoet is so right...you winhiip instead...if you don't like the idea of opening up your PC every time and messig with cable and stuff...simply use a IDE or USB2 HD-rack...
I assumed I could do that but haven't tried. Would I just rip the iso off the dvd using DVD depcrypter and then plop it on my HD? And what is and how would I use the usb2 rack? Connect my ps2 to my PC and upload through that?

Add me fellas
The on import I installed recently was For Symphony, but for some reason all it does is sit at a black screen w/ the HD activity light on.
I was told on afterdawn.com that alot of import games will not work on hdloader and either will swap magic. Snipersnake may have gotten lucky with all the ones he's chosen, or maybe afterdawn was wrong! Who knows!?

I've had good luck and good speed with this method and most of my games are US versions - I live in Korea so US versions are imports... though thankfully both are NTSC. This should work for you too if you wanna play other NTSC games...
My modchip also allows region-free and homebrew so I don't have to go through all this but it's damn handy for a lot of reasons... namely, the ability to modify ISOs, shrink games... etc.
I'd rather a USB adapter for the HDD - USB 2.0 would be faster than IDE and no screwing with Windows shutdown... but whatever.
I think I just will have to mess around with the modes and stuff and if should work. The import games that work for me are Ace Combate 5, Altered Beast, ni Shabati (spelling), Project Snow Blind (in French, and pissed me off), and thats all I can think off right now.
