im new and need help –
hi there im new to the ps2 so be gentle please.
i have hdloader disc and i see that u can put that on hard disk some how with psmenu or sumit what files do i need to do this and how please
yes i know its alot too ask my im not getting the big picture.
what i want to do is put sumit on hd then choose to run hdloader, just so i dont need the disc thats all,is it poss it sounds like it is???
i just have an ordinary old style chip but it works i got games on the hd and they all seem to work fine.
thanks for any help
do you have the original hdloader?
I would suggest getting the MC version of it. (look at my sig and choose the one with the smallest filesize.)
Then, get ps2menu from ps2dev.org and sjeeps exploit installer and configure it to load ps2menu upon insertion of the special ps1 game. Also include the hdloader mc version in the BOOT directory.
Now after its installed, just move the hdloader.elf file over to a partition on your HDD, and use ps2menu to access it from then on.
Sounds complicated, but just search these forums and the internet to get more info.
Hey tOn, So let me get this right... All I need to do is put the MC HDloader (plus if I want the media player and Gens) in the BOOT dirctory of ps2menu before I burn the disk?... All I need is the .ELF files correct?..
Plus sjeeps exploit installer is the Tittleman DOS program correct...
im just tryin to get this strait sents no one esle seems to want to help me with ps2menu!...
hi thanks, would this help someone who can only install originals and not backups my friend has this prob he has a magic 3 chip is that no good for free hdloader.
could he use mc and then be able 2? and thansk
Yes he can use the MC HDloader... Far as I know all mod-chips can use HDloader, allthou Im not %100 sure on that...
And yes HDloader is a good program to use if you can only install origianals...
1 - the BOOT directory is not of ps2menu, its sjeep's exploit installer. The application you want to boot via the exploit must be called BOOT.ELF (renamed ps2menu in my recommendation). Any other files you put in that directory will be uploaded to MC as well - just make sure you have space for them. Then after you upload them, you can access them from within ps2menu, and even transfer them to hdd.
2 - If the application you are trying to use has other files (IRX modules, etc) then you must include them too for that application to work.
3 - Yes, sjeep's installer does require the tittleman.db - but its a requirement of the exploit itself
Post any otehr questions you have, and I would be more than happy to try and get you up and running.
It seems the MC version of hdloader does not like to self-boot on modchips. Meaning that if you first booted ps2menu, THEN booted hdloader from ps2menu, it works fine. (i do it daily) Apparently there is a trick to direct boot hdloader, which involves ejecting the disc you burned hdloade ron and putting a ps2 game in the drive. (i think)
in your situation, i would also recommend getting ps2menu up and running via the exploit, then having the mc hdloader.ef version on your MC or HDD for booting.
