As I was saying.. –
before I was RUDELY interrupted.
There seems to be a compatability issue between certain games and 7200 rpm hard drives that has been discovered. That suggests that there are more things still to investigate.
And I'm sorr,y i'm not gonna drop another $150 on the problem of trying to mmake capsule monsters work without the disc. i just don' thave that kind of cash (laugh). ANd we don't even know if it will wok. i think the odds are fairly good, tough..
I've got a few theories about this and other games that crash randomly.
We know what event crashes midway arcade treasures 2. it's trying to show the partial screen FMV previews. It's very liekly this is a fixabl problem. ''As for yu-gi-oh, it oculd be
1) a protection mechanism where delays are checked at different times, and if something takes too long or to short, the game freezez. The evidence in support of this idea is my original even crashed nce. Not mhuch to go on.
2) THere's a race conditio left in hdloader's stub of cdvdstm.irx, and that game happens to trip t.
3) it's possible we need a better patch for that driver id function. unfortunately we dson't know what the algorithm for return values of tthe original is, and it's gonna e a bitch to reverse engineer.
I'd try and answer the questin myself but i do not have the tools to debug HDL (laugh)
