I Can't Play Any Games!!!!!!!!!

I have tried EVERYTHING. I have gone through over 20 CD-R's and about 10 different tutorials all with different files. No matter what, I have not gotten the HDLoader exploit to run when I insert my psx game. I get the installation complete message every time.

So, when I gave up on that, I used the Gameshark swap method to just run HDLoader from a CD I burned. I can back up games on there, see them, change their modes, and everything else. I changed the modes to every combination possible and I still get nothing but a black screen when I try to play them with an orange light inside my PS2 that turns on for like a second when it seems to be reading the hard drive and goes off.

I also read about changing the SYSTEM.CNF file to use the "GameName.ELF" file instead of it's SLUS name but none of the games I'm trying have that kind of .ELF file

I have a version 4 PS2 and am using the Gameshark swap method as of right now to load HDLoader since I can't get the exploit started. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm dying to get this working. I've tried about a million different things. And it's not something simple like adding the correct SLUS name to TITLE.DB using titleman or any other simple solution like that. I don't mean to sound like an ungrateful bastard who doesn't need your petty help, cuz I do need help, I guess I'm just hoping that one of you will have the solution I need or will know how to go about helping me. Try creating a exect ftp 6.8 disc. Boot that disc on your PS2. Once you get your PS2-ip address, run your ftp software , type in the Ps2-ip address you got from exect ftp on the Server or Url with playstation as the username and password and using port 21 . Start file transfering and no more wasting cd's.

yep very useful blueknight. PRJ not really sure what the problem is but ill try to help out if i can :) . first of all plz tell us the files you are burning in the exploit to make it work. they all need to be capitalized and system.cnf needs to be pointed to the right place.

second i recommend trying to install games via PC to HDD direct connection by IDE.

thirdly what happens with the exploit? you say it installs alright but what happens when you boot psx disc? it just loads the game instead of booting to hdloader?

I pretty much just gave up on the exploit. I'm almost sure I was using the right files, as I used about 20 different combinations of all of them, they were all capitalized, and I believe the SYSTEM.CNF file was pointed in the right place.

I'm trying to get the exceftps to get going but when I try to connect from my computer to my PS2 to avoid using so many CD's, I'm not abe to. I get the confirmation from execftps to connect on port 21, I tried to connect using playstation as the password and user, and I tried it using anonymous, neither one work. I know the IP is correct and it's in the config.dat file, but it's denying me access. I'm using WSFTP.

I have installed the games directly to the HDD using IDE. When I try to run them with HDLoader after I transfered them with my PC and all I get is a black screen. I've run them on all modes and combinations of modes and still nothing. I can't use their "GameName.ELF" file to boot them because none of them have one.

Lastly, when I try to boot the exploit using the psx disk, I get a black screen. I'm not so much concerned with the exploit as I am to just get the games running when I try to play them using HDLoader.

for execftps try using flashfxp. as for hdloader i think you are the first person to have this problem. it wouldnt hurt to try and find a different hdloader.elf and put it in the memory card using execftps. i cant understand why it wouldnt boot though. what games are you trying?

Hey, thanks for the help guys. I got it working. I ended up getting ExecFTPs working by creating a back-up CD of it and booting it with using Gameshark method. Once i got that working, I was able to transer, with a lot of crap in between, PS2Menu and HDLoader files over to my memory card and, by trying a couple of different combinations of files, I finally got it working.

By the way, I think I might have had a bad HDLOADER.ELF, but I'm not sure. All I know is that my PS2 out up a battle and gave me hell for almost a week straight and 20 CD-R's.
