How long to format ?

I installed a 30gig hdd wich I had in my pc. It was practically filled up. So I put it in the ps2. HD loader detected it and said it needed to be formatted. So of course I pressed x and it began the formatting. But its either taking a very long time or somethings wrong. Its been about 2hrs now. So I was wondering if it just takes long to format a 30gig drive that had stuff on it or is my drive messed up ?

I put in a Quantum 30 gb and it took like a minute to format.

I believe mine took a few minutes, but then again I'm using a 200gb hdd....

i guess that the hdloader froze. i heard somewhere that something it freezes.

yeah it shouldn't take that long... I have an 80gb and the format was almost instant for me like 5 or 10 sec not long at all

My new 120gb took me like 25 seconds to format.

try to format it with your pc first, then put it in the ps2, should work better
