you really wouldn't be booting the ps2 with the hdd......you would boot ps2, then run homebrew software to enable access to the hdd

lllchikoolll:
Since you have a modchip, you have a few options to use on booting HD Loader ( the app you need to run games from a HDD).
- you can choose to use a Dev mode of your Modchip to boot into the app with a button press
- you can boot a CD with HD Loader burned to it
- you can install Free McBoot to your MC and select HD Loader from the menu
There are a few apps you can use to format and install PS2 games to your HDD, Winhiip being the top app to use. It doesnt have network support, so you will need to connect the HDD directly to your PC to prepare it for the PS2 useage.
HDLDump and its GUI apps are able to manage your HDD while in the PS2 over a network connection, if you prefer to leave it in the PS2.
The PS2 by itself cant use a HDD, unless its the Sony HDD with its special software. So you need to use homebrew apps to utilize a connected HDD.
OFF TOPIC:
While Sony spelled it "Adaptor", many people spell it as "Adapter" and both spellings would be correct for the purpose of getting the point across.

lolol :P
anyway, indeed. u cant "boot" your ps2 using the hdd
there arn't many hdd's that can boot a computer...
so, what u want is HDLoader to access and play the games on your hdd.
google for it, u can find it anywhere.
i dont know what kinda chip u have, but u can boot hDLoader from a burned cd. if u need detailed explanation on how to burn a bootable ps2 cd, u can check my signature and look for 'ps2 apps updated'
however, depending on the chip u have, i would recommend installing FMBC, where u will have a nice menu after booting your ps2, form where u can boot any home-brew program u like, such as:
ulaunchelf
SMS
HDloader
codebreaker
ESR
etc...
if u have a matrix infinity chip, u can use DEV1 or DEV2 boot.
(holding R1 or R2 while booting the ps2, boots any program of your choice from memorycard or hdd)
have fun
