ok, guys. i can't seem to find a tutorial page on how to do this, so i thought i ask for you asistance. i am completely new at this, so don't yell at me. i got a ps2, network adapter and a maxtor 120gb hd. i got them all connected and installed properly. so what do i do now to be able to backup and load my games off my hd? do i need to install some software into my hd so it will run? how do i partition my hd so it will work with ps2? do i need a modchip at all? thx!

no mods, no modchip, plug the hard drive power and cables into the network adapter, pop off the expansion bay thing on the back of your PS2, slide your hard drive + network adapter in, put in HD Loader disk. Done

edit: even though most maxtors are compatible, check out your HD here http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/

HD Loader is a retail program it apears. I found a good bit torrent site that is currently hosting it, you will need to register at the site and have a bit torrent client.

HDLoader and HDAdvance is the same thing although HDAdvance is a rip-off off of HDLoader. Since HDLoader is not that easy to get now days and HDAdvance is easier to use if you got no mod-chip, I'd recommend HDAdvance. Just prepare yourself when someone posts about HDLoader, you can pretty much apply this to HDAdvance.

I know torrents aren't illegal, even if most companies want 'em to be, but the mods might not take that into consideration when they decide what you can and can not post. I'm pretty sure some of them will have a problem with torrent posting.
