How Do I Set Modes On The HDA

I just got this (HDA) last night and I copied my Smackdown Vs. Raw game on it and every time i load it, the screen is just black. On the forums here it says it needs to be mode 3 and i cant figure out how to change the modes? Please help me and thanks in advance.......

In the game selection screen, press Select.
