how to determine if the game works 100% from start to finish?
how to determine if the game works 100% from start to finish? –
also posted this one on another forum.. hope you guys could help.
since im pretty new to the ps2 hdd thing, i was wondering if like say- you installed the game with no errors successfully right? does it guarantee that it will work from start to finish? has there been a case before where you installed a game successfully (and is compatible) then it will have problems later on? im worried about the new games being released considering i don't have all the time to play and finish them like Black, Grandia 3 etc....
No. Of course there are no guarantees.

It's just that the game code of those games relies on things that HDLoader can't emulate properly, so they fail. Some game developers even make the games fail intentionally, whenever they manage to detct that HDLoader is being used...
There have been many cases where games were believed to be compatible, so you would see them in compatibility lists, but problems still occurred later. This was sometimes because the guys who reported those games as compatible had not tested them completely, but sometimes it was merely because some problems are sporadic and erratic.

Maybe the guys who tested the game got lucky, and got past some critical sections without problems, so they report it as fully compatible. But the next guy who tries it may get stuck in those critical sections anyway.
Like I started at the top: There are NO guarantees.
Still, if lots of people report succesfully finishing a game, then you probably will succeed to.

what about older games listed on the list? are they sure to work from start to finish?
It all depends on how thoroughly the person tested it. Unless you talk to someone directly who's tested the entire thing, there's NO way of knowing if it completely works.
I myself though still go off of ps2 hd's master list. It's pretty thorough for the most part, and i figure it can be trusted. have yet to experience any problems.
