    Hi,
a few days ago I'm trying to get my my first experiences with my new HDD(Maxtor 250 GB) and some different versions of HD Loader, the server and the dumb tool.
First I'm using that one who was included in the install package where i get my FMCB from.It was maybe 160kb big.
With that I dumb my first game on the hdd, with the ps2 dvd player.
All going fine and the max speed were 1600 kbps.
    O.K.,second one,also no probs,MGS3.
After that I had some tries to dumb TombRaider-Underworld from PC,I mean all times I use FAP Link 0.87.1.Some tries meaning that I had 2 shut downs of my pc.
    But the 3rd try were good,but all a bit slow,only 900 kbps(0,9 Mbps).
I dont know why,but then I try a hdl version included in a gulli package.
That was the special V.9 version for my console.I'm wondering why that prog is over 400 KB big???And I cant see more functions as the 160kb version had.Only the german language patch.
O.K.,i forget to give the last game the right name, only the Release Number was shown,so I decide to rename it and if I press "enter"....all 3 games were lost.
But if I use FAP Link or the gui version 1.5 here,my games are on the harddrive.
How the games stored in that game list on the ps2?Maybe only that list is corrupt?
And how I can delete the broken tries on the hdd.If I use TotalCommander as FTP Client and a server.elf on the PS2 I can see the broken tries but cant delete it....?
    Thx guys.
    Greetings,Tom!

FAP Link, I never actually heard of this program before, or at least not for a very long time. I just did a search on it and found this post about it. It appears this program is very old. I would suggest not using it, and instead use HDL_Dump GUI or HDL Dump Helper GUI. Both programs work with the lastest stable version of hdl_dump 0.8.6 and server 0.8.5 here. There was an Unofficial version of hdl_dump/server released here, but it proved to have issues, so everyone reverted back to hdl_dump 0.8.6 and server 0.8.5.

You shouldn't have any issues using this combination of software. I personally use HDL_Dump GUI with hdl_dump 0.8.6 and server 0.8.5, and never had any problems.

    UPDATE:

About your other questions, I'm not sure which version of HDLoader you are using, but you can easily download and patch it yourself. The Clean_HDLoader.ELF file along with the DOS patcher are located here. If you don't like DOS, you can use the Windows version of the patcher here. When patching HDLoader, there is one option that is specific to a version 9 PS2, which is "No disc seek while loading (stops freezing at splash screen on V9)".

I've never had problems like what you are having, so I'm not sure about your HDLoader Settings file, but I'm sure there is someone here who would know more about it.

Yep, ps2dragon is right about FapLink. Its an old app that was discontinued and never fix to install games over 2GB.

It is useful for installs under 2GB, but its not a good idea to use multiple apps to install games to your HDD, as when an error occurs, you dont know which app is responsible and makes it very difficult to correct the problem.

I dont know why,but then I try a hdl version included in a gulli package.

My guess is the skin used has 'bloated' the file size.

But if I use FAP Link or the gui version 1.5 here,my games are on the harddrive.

The installed games are still there, just made 'invisible' for use , until they are over written. If you can connect your HDD direct inside your PC, you can run winhiip and attempt to scan/repair it. If you can, i can only recommend you re-format the HDD, re-install your games using ONLY 1 app. If you prefer network installing, then use the HDL Dump program and/or its GUI counterparts. If you dont mind connecting to your PC, then Winhiip is the best for that.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

Thyx guys, very fast and simple help.
Before I format the hdd new,I will only ask one more question. Is the form in this game list stored on the hdd encrypted or can I try to make the games visible again if I know the right format,or text?
Maybe you can give me an example how it was stored on your hdd with one game.
And at least, where is the reformat function in hdl if the hdd is already formatted?Or is it only possible with the gui 1.5 of hdldump over the network.
I prefer to use it over the network because I don't have a 51/4 hdcase,so I cant use at the moment winhiip.
    Greetings,Tom!
PS.:Thx for the link to the FAPLink post.I found some information to repair it maybe.Only see it today, sry.
I clear my prob with a tool call hdd manager from dms.
I can see with that tool all corrupted tries and simple delete them and how the author of FAPLink say in his post,I delete also the settings partition of hdloader and on next restart,*bingo*,all my games are on the list. And I use the small version of hdloader ,not the "gulli" version. Why I should use the gulli version, only because the background image? No,I dont like them and over 300kb more only because that?
