As it has been already said several times here, PS1 games will not work with HDLoader because the IOP-CPU that is used to execute modules (the ones that are needed for HDD access) in PS2-mode is the main CPU in PS1-mode.

But perhaps you'd like to rewrite the whole PS1-system to multitask and coexists with the PS2-side modules. Wonder what the impact on speed would be as the CPU is trying to execute the PS1 gamedata and at the same time takes resources to process the PS2 modules and transfer data from the HDD.

Imagine trying to run two games at the same time with your old PS1.

A quick way to simulate that would be to take some PS1-emu and slow enough PC to just barely run it 1:1 and then execute the same emu 2nd time while the first one is running.

But if it makes you feel any better I heard there's a parallel universe where this was made possible from the start and you can actually run two PS2 and two PS1 programs at the same time on the same machine. And they even give away those machines for free.
