help with ps2 sony official hdd

Hi people:

I have the ps2 linux kit. I try to install linux on my hdd but it not recognize the hdd :S. And the hdd is the official sony hdd of 40 Gb xD. Well, I thing the problem its the jumpers, because, before this, I could use the hdd. And I only use the hdd in the ps2 xD. On the top of hdd is not specifies nothing about the MASTER and SLAVE. If anyone know how I have to put the jumpers in the hdd please help me. Thank you.

The sony official hdd is just a maxtor with a different firmware, according to the maxtor website, for the D540X-4D hdd:

(Master)
The vertical jumper over the J50 pins is configuring the drive as a Master.

(Master with CLJ)
The vertical jumper over the J50 pins is configuring the drive as a Master.
The vertical jumper over the J46 pins is in the Cylinder Limitation position (CLJ).

(Slave)
No jumper is required to configure the drive as a Slave.
The jumper over the J44 and J42 positions is in the jumper storage position.

(Slave with CLJ)
The jumper over the J44 and J42 positions is in the jumper storage position.
The jumper over the J46 pins is in the Cylinder Limitation position (CLJ).

(Cable Select)
The jumper over the J48 position is configuring the drive for Cable Select.

(Cable Select with CLJ)
The jumper over the J48 position is configuring the drive for Cable Select.
The jumper over the J46 pins is in the Cylinder Limitation position (CLJ).
