HELP! how to install install a hdd

How do u install a hdd to work with ps2 if its not a sony hdd? i formatted it with hdloader but in browser the hdd doesnt come up. Is it possible to use other hdd's on the ps2 or will it only work with hdloader?

HDDs other than the original Sony one don't show up in the browser and also don't work together with games like FFXI.

So theres no way to get it to work? No patch or somthing?

If you have a NTSC PS2 and can get hold of the NTSC HDD Utility Disc and have a DMS3 (who can make a non $ony HDD look like one) in your PS2 then an updated browser can be installed in your PS2.

where do i get this browser to install? Atleast whats the name of it so i could find it?

The browser is already in your PS2, start PS2 without a disc in it and it will be visible.
The browser extension that makes the HDD show up in the browser is installed using the HDD Utility Disc that comes with the $ony HDD.
