hey, i have always thought that you needed your disc in the drive in order to load a game from HDL...

then i noticed something today, if i had my tray open when i start HDL from the MC, it stops at the splash screen. proceeds to main only after I close the tray... another thing i noticed is that i could play any game as long as I had a disc in the drive...

is this the way it should be?? can anyone clarify?

does it proceeed loading after u close the tray without disc?

I have the original backup of hdloader, no extra additions or patches to it.

here is what I do. I boot into ps2menu, then take my ps1 trigger disc out and close the tray with nothing in it. Finally, I loade HDLoader from a partition on my hdd, and it goes from the splash screen straight to the games list. Then I choose a game and play it. There is still no disc in the drive.

Is this what you were asking about? You couldve tried this on your own...its not a secret either..

I beleive it's simply the cdvd.irx module needing to load to hijack the calls to the hdd. for some reason, it needs to be closed, with or without a disc in. Try to start up ps2menuk while the tray is open. samething. it hangs on the cdvd.irx until you close the tray, with or without disc.
