hdloader and ps2menu on the mc

I have a crystal chip and the bootmanager installed on my ps2. I have a disc that I can boot up ps2menu with, but I don't know where to put the elf files on my memory card so that I can launch them from within the crystal chip bootmanger. I put them in the boot dir, but that didn't help. Whenever I go into the applications menu in the bootmanager and try to install it says failed. Any suggestions?
