Hdloader and online play

I am thinking about putting a hard drive in my ps2 and using hdloader but i have a question. I seem to see conflicting info in this ever where I check. If I patch the game with dnas ID patch to put the dnas id back in the image and copy it to the hard drive using say winhiip would I be able to play the game online? or will the game kick back because of the hard drive?
