hdloader - not recognising import discs

Well, i got my kit yesterday. Installed all my uk/pal games fine ... but most of my games are imports, and for these I got a "Not a valid PS2 disc" error, even though I have a no-swap modchip (I think it is a Magic 3).

I guess HDLoader and my modchip ain't working too well together. Any of you wise people got any suggestions for how I can get around this?
