Hi I just bought a Matrix Infinity chip to Boot HDLoader ELF's from the memory card so I dont need a disc in my PS2(V9). The only thing is when I boot up my PS2 and load a ELF from the Infinity Manger it all works OK until I select a game to play and the screen goes black and freezes but if there is a disc (any disc even a CDR with the ELF on it) the games work fine can anyone HELP Please.

    Thanks

This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions in this forum.
I've replied to it myself, lots of times before this, but ok, just this once more...

All PS2 models from v9 and later share this problem, which is due to updates of the built-in PS2 firmware/bios. Those make the /S switch (Stop Disc patch) of hdlpatch have this side effect, that HDLoader can only launch games if some disc (any readable disc) is inside the PS2 disc tray.

The solution is to avoid using the '/S' switch when patching HDLoader for booting without a disc.

The general rule for hdlpatch 0.6d is to use '/S' ONLY for copies of HDL that should boot with a disc in tray, and also to use '/N' ONLY for copies of HDL that should boot without a disc in tray. This makes perfect sense, as "Stop disc" is useless with empty tray, and "No disc" is useless with a disc in the tray...

For hdlpatch versions older than 0.6 there's a similar rule of using '/S' ONLY for booting with disc in tray, but using '/N /C' ONLY for booting without disc in tray.
(NB: This old usage of '/C' doesn't exist in hdlpatch 0.6, where '/C' has entirely new meaning.)

    Best regards: dlanor
