HDLOADER Help pls. Very stuck, new drive
HDLOADER Help pls. Very stuck, new drive –
Just got a new used network adapter as EB for 25 bucks. What a bargain. Anywho, I have two drives that work for me. One 10 gig IBM, and one 200 gig Maxtor
Well Im using the Maxtor 200Gig 7200 rpm and something or other cache whatever that is................
Popped it in the back, ran hdloader.......... put it on as master of course. And it did the usual drive not formatted deal. Formatted, took maybe 10 seconds. (how can a 200 gig take that long only???)
Partially installed FFX2 (god I hate when people say X like "ex" its TEN, some idiot in EB pronounced wrong and pissed me off) Well dont remember why but it got cancelled.
Well when I turn the system back on, and try to go in with hdloader it just freezes at the main screen that says free hd loader in that ugly blue.
Always freezes there with this drive now. ALWAYS.
Is there some other way I should go about it?
My specs are:
Not sure of ps2 version, but its not a slim, as i burned my slim.
No modchip. Loading up and using HDLOADERLITE and HDLOADER both .elf from the pendrive using Action Replay Max Evo.
Note some elfs wont boot for me through there like hddformat its weird what am I doing wrong? I just copy elfs to the pendrive to execute in media player right?
I own no original playstation 1 games, and 2 ps2 games. And 1 8 meg memcard with some important saves on it.
What can I do to get this drive up?
i'm really new to all this as you can see this is my first post yay! .. i would take the hdd and plug it into your computer and format it again using winhiip .. might help ..
would like t but no pc or cash, me and everyone around me = laptops
Laptop is not a problem (i'm using laptop only), try to find a USB or firewire enclosure to connect to your laptop it's working very well !
BTW don't forget to use the 48bits patched version of hdl if you want to use the 200 Go
Is that really the only option? We do have an enclosure actually right in front of me. Im starting to think it was the bad rip of ffx2 that messed up my drive and that the reformat as a ps2 hdd will work. But this enclosure was real pricey, and we cant find the power cord. Some wierd unique 4 pronged connection to the enclosure. :-( If I cant find it any other options?
As far as I know, there is only 3 ways of installing games on the hdd :
- directly from the HDL menu (Hdd in your ps2)
- from a pc with winhiip/hdldump : IDE/USB/Firewire connection (hdd directly connected to the pc)
- the last one is to transfer via FTP using the same tools and hdld_svr.elf running on the ps2 (Hdd in your ps2)
Did you try to install your game once again ? If the same bug happens maybe you were right :
Im starting to think it was the bad rip of ffx2
Hey, I managed to rig a strictly cdrom enclosure to run the hdd. So I got it running in winhiip that way, formatted, erased, full package, installed kingdom hearts final mix on it..... PS2 still wont detect it, and winhiip automatically reads the 200 gig as 128
have u you used any other winhiip style programs before they can mess up if you switch
For the 128 Go limitation there is an option to activate in winhiip, but it will be helpless if your hdloader is not patched
Try to format your hdd in the ps2 first, and then use your enclosure to connect the pc (I never managed to format with winhiip, don't know why !!...)
As omegatron said, you can give a try with hdldump if winhiip doesn't work
Try patching HDLoader with the 48bit patch or whatever. That hdledit program can do it.
Format your PS2 HD with winhiip because there are folders that HDLoader creates that you don't need, it also saves you about 2.5 gb. The folders below are what you do not need (according to exploitstation.com, tried and tested by me). I kept the _boot folder and sized it small as possible (128mb?) and put all of my elfs in that folder (to save MC space) and they load fine, I even load HDLoader from the _boot folder. I use launchelf btw.
