hdloader freezes on game copy, winhiip too
hdloader freezes on game copy, winhiip too –
OK, I bought the original hdadvance long before I knew about exploits. I ran it fine with a maxtor 120 gig drive. Everything ran fine.
When I learned about exploits, I used my retail disc to get hdloader onto my card, with execftps, keylauncher, etc. dv8's tut, as I recall. Everything ran fine for a few months now.
Now, I'm running hdloader with .6d patched. I notice that I can play my games, etc fine. BUT
When I go to install/copy a new game on (any game), hdloader recognizes the disc size ijn the right-hand menu, and when I select copy, it goes to "initializing installation" (or something similar) and hangs. No black screen, nothing.
So I think, "OK, I'll pop the drive in my PC and check it with winhiip."
When I launch winhiip & select the drive (which it sees fine, apparently), winhiip hangs, with all the format options, etc grayed out. So I can't even access this way or format it.
I went back and tried every version of hdloader.elf I've used successfully, thinking maybe I patched the latest incorrectly. No dice.
I even dug up my hdadvance RETAIL disc, and I get the same issue: hanging on game copying.
Any suggestions (sorry for the long read, trying to be thorough )?
Judging from your description, the last game installed (before the hangups started) was in fact not installed properly (for unknown reasons), which now causes both HDLoader and WinHIIP to lock up (though differently, as HDL could show the list).
You may be able to recover from this condition by using the HDDFormat tool to remove the last game partition you installed.
Best regards: dlanor
I'll check that out. Now if I can just remember which was the last game, lol...
Got a winhiip.rds file from gadgetfreak that should solve my partition problem. Will post the results this weekend

After getting a winhiip.wds file from gadgetfreak, and running the Write drive Structure withit, my drive seems to have returned to functional again, with no loss in data.
Well done Gadgetfreak!
