HDLoader formats HDD after WinHiip?
HDLoader formats HDD after WinHiip? –
Can anyone tell me why HDLoader tells me it needs to format the HDD after I used WinHiip 1.6.4? What I did was pull the HDD out of the PS2 network adapter (already have several of my games on the HDD) then hooked it up to my computer to put on San Andreas since its a dual-layer DVD. When I started WinHiip I was able to "select" my PS2 drive and saw the right list of stuff. I then did 'Add CD/DVD' and accepted the defaults. Everything looked to run right... but when I put the HDD back in the network adapter and turned on with HDLoader... I get a message telling me I need to format the HDD (I didn't format yet).
I'm running unmoded (and don't want to mod). How can I use WinHiip so that HDLoader doesn't ask me to format the HDD?
first it is not a dual layer disk.
second was the computer on when you put in the drive cuz if it was your proll sol
i have heard thsi problem before you should have posted in the correct forum and you might find the answer you can find gadgetfreaks sticky ( he made the program) at
The computer was not on when I attached the HDD. Thank you for the other forum. I'm a novice at this. Have you heard why this happens?
>I get a message telling me I need to format the HDD (I didn't format yet).
Hmmph, so you got a HDD, connected it to PC, transfered a game with WinHiip without any formatting on the PS2 prior to it and now it asks you to format?
Well, that's quite normal don't you think?!
The PS2 HDD needs to be properly formatted to the PS2 filesystem (APA) ON THE PS2 ITSELF before anything can be transfered/used.
So just put the HDD in your PS2, Boot HDLoader, format as it asks you THEN transfer a game through Winhiip dude! It will do you good
No, I had already formatted the HDD long ago when I first got HDLoader... I've got all my games on the HDD already. So I don't want to lose everything there already. After I used WinHiip to save my gm HDLoader told me I had to reformat (everything worked fine before I tried WinHiip.
my only advise is to reformat and add all your games through winhipp even if you have 40 games should only take about 10 hours just que themn all and go to sleep
same thing happened to me, had a drive that already had games on it, tried using the new winhiip and when i put it back in the ps2 it kept asking to format.
my solution, since i had iso's of all the games on my PC hard drive. i just let the ps2 format it and used HDL_dump instead. of all the times i've used winhiip, it's almost always given me problems, hdl_dump seems to be an incredibly solid program. give it a shot.
Im having the same problem with winhiip.Everytime I put my hdd back in my ps2 it says i need to format.Yet when i run hdl_dumb it cannot detect my ps2 hd.
Happened to me too.
Dunno what i did different from other times, maybe it's when I pressed that Add CD/DVD button by mistake (only pressed that button once), or when I re-formatted it,
and I didn't include that _Main partition (I usually include it with 128MB)
