    Hey all,
I use HDloader ELF from memory card on a USA V9 with DMS3 V9.

As you know, a CD or DVD needs to be in the tray or else HDLoader hangs on a black screen.

BUT! I just noticed that it makes a difference if you put a DVD original or DVD backup in the tray!
If you put an original, then you can switch off the PS2 the way it's meant to switch off : you press reset 2 seconds and it goes off.

But if you put a backup, then you will not be able to fast-switch-off the PS2 and you must press reset at least 10 seconds before it switches off...

So if you've never been able to switch off the PS2 normally after a HDLoader session, just put an original in the tray instead and it'll go off as it's designed to.
    That's it!

Hmmmm, I never had any problem running HDLoader without any CD or DVD inserted in my PS2.

    ???
You're saying you got a V9 and can boot HDL from Memory card WITHOUT anything in the tray and it actually boots, no black screen??
This would be a first, very interesting!
    Are you 100% sure it's a V9 you got?

same here i have a v9 with no disk in the tray and it works fine. i only use a ps1 disk to boot key launcher, then i take out the disk. after that i launch hdloader, works fine!!. the only problem i had is when u try to take out the disk when the hdloader is loading up (splash screen)--it freezes. so i take it out before or after, or while the game is already launched

i have a v4, which i boot w/ the MC exploit.. i have no problem getting it to turn off @ hdloader or in game by tapping the reset button.. sometimes when i have some apps running (execftp, faplink, etc..) i have to hold down the reset button.

i never take the disc out of the ps2, when hdloader boots i press install/cancel to stop it from spinning so it will save my drive motor.. its pointless to let it spin there doing nothing..

hopefully someone hacks the hdloader elf so it will stop the disc from spinning once hdloader is booted.

Isn't the no disc in tray only an issue with Dms/Matrix chips on v9, v10?

Yes, that's it! I thought it was common to all V9/V10s, but apparently it depends on what chip you use...
