HDLOADER: direct boot using INFINITY
HDLOADER: direct boot using INFINITY –
Using DMS3 there's a way to turn on your PS2, push TRIANGLE on joypad and go directly to HDLOADER (not passing by EXPLORER MENU) installed on you memory card.
This trick is known as direct boot.
I would like to know if it is possible to do the same using INFINITY chip.
Untill now, using INFINITY, I can:
- turn on PS2
- push /\
- access EXPLORER
- go on SHOW APPLICATION
- load HDLOADER from MC
I would like to do:
- turn on PS2
- push /\
- access directly to HDLOADER installed on MC
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance!
I haven't tested it yet, but I think it's possible. I have replaced the EXPLORER with PS2MENU by deleting the BOOT\BOOT.ELF on the MC and renaming the PS2MENU.ELF to BOOT.ELF. It works, when I push "/\" PS2MENU is directly loaded and I think it could work with HDLoader too.
You can try it yourself by using a bootable image, like HDLoader ISO or something else and extract the files (UltraISO, ISObuster). I used the EXPLORER auto-install Image, replaced the EXPLORER.ELF with PS2MENU.ELF and changed the other files (INSTALL, SYSTEM) so that PS2MENU.ELF instead of EXPLORER.ELF is installed and automatically is renamed to BOOT.ELF (also added a IPCONFIG.DAT for ps2link but this is optional).
Otherwise you can just rename PS2MENU.ELF (or HDLOADER.ELF) to EXPLORER.ELF so u don't have to change anything (doesn't matter 'cause its renamed anyway).
After that, burn the files with a burn program like NERO in MODE2/XA and ISO9660 (all other things unchecked). Burn the 0.BIN to the disk too! Load it in your PS2 and it's automatically installed.

I think that maybe if I have the backup I want to install, in the the cd/dvd drive, whilst holding triangle to direct boot hdloader, then maybe I wont get the invalid disc error ?!?
kinda stinks that you cant install backups, using infinity
Ok, it works, but you'll have to do a little trick.
1. Install Infinity Manager to MC
2. Burn a CD with a booting PS2MENU and put HDLOADER.ELF renamed to MANAGER.ELF in the root of the disk.
3. Copy the MANAGER.ELF from PS2MENU to mc0:/\matrixteam\MANAGER.ELF.
After that it should work. But it needs some skills in using PS2MENU. Use select on PS2MENU to see which function a button has. Copying is done by first press /\ on destination (matrixteam directory on MC). Then highlight MANAGER.ELF on CD and press /\ twice.
To use the Infinity Manager again, just install it from the Manager CD.
Cyber, you rock.
Thanks for your patience and for your help!
dear god help me
I have ps2menu, I have HDloader retail, copy, and the reduced version. Hell I even have just the ELF
can you please help me to burn a ps2menu CD? I cant for the life of me do it, and I have the cdgen or whatever, but I guess I suck
